Juicing basics

A little juice in your life goes a long way. Fresh juice is very good for you but it is not easy to extract without the right equipment. So first off you need to consider which type of juicing machine is suited to you. Basically, there are three types of machine, the masticating juicer, the centrifugal juicer and the mechanical juicer. Check out each one to decide which would suit you better. Secondly, you need airtight containers to store the juice as exposure to air creates oxidisation which quickly destroys the live enzymes present in the fresh juice. Thirdly, you will need an airtight flask if you wish to take juice say to work or on a picnic.

  • Juice is best fresh so whenever possible pick your recipe, juice up and then drink it down straight away

If you have several children who consume lots of juice then it may be worth juicing up in bigger batches. In this scenario pick your recipe(s) juice up several litres and then store in the fridge for up to 2 days. Store in good quality air tight containers and fill them as full as you possibly can (removing as much air as possible).

For juice on the go simply pick your recipe, juice up and then transfer to an airtight flask. Fill the flask as full as possible to remove the air then seal the lid and you are off.

  • DO experiment with all sorts of combinations it helps keep juicing alive
  • ALWAYS clean your juicer straight after use otherwise it is a nightmare to clean

I recommend that you use free range and organic produce for every recipe, diet, juice and detox found within this site. There is no substitute for good quality food!
