Fruit vs veg

Surely fruit juice is the natural choice of most people? But it is the vegetable juice which really is the star! I think a balanced approach is wise here but you should only have about three glasses of fruit juice a week compared to seven glasses of vegetable juice. The reasons for this are few and simple. Namely, fruit juice (except tomatoes) doesn't contain many different vitamins and minerals (it is mostly vitamin C) and it's very high in fructose (naturally occurring sugars) which can cause blood sugar spikes (bad). Vegetable juices combined contain every vitamin, mineral and enzyme known to man and have only tiny amounts of fructose so overall it us much better for you!

Having said that, it is good to have a combination of juices to make sure you are getting ALL the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes that you need for superior health so don't dismiss the usefulness of fruit juices, just be conservative with them. Some people are of the opinion that you shouldn't even mix fruit and veg when you juice up but I don't hold to that train of thought. One of the nicest juices I ever tasted and still love is carrot, apple and spinach with a little ginger root! Delicious!

Under the juicing recipes section you will find all the different juice cocktails needed to keep you in tip top condition!! So have a look and experiment - That is half the fun of juicing! I'm always trying to make the perfect juice with the perfect colour, aroma and all the nutrients in one glass but I haven't cracked it yet, who knows, maybe you will?

I recommend that you use free range and organic produce for every recipe, diet, juice and detox found within this site. There is no substitute for good quality food!
